First time express facial: what to expect & how to prepare

An Express Facial is a focused 20 to 40 minute service, usually about 30 minutes. I’ll cleanse, exfoliate, apply a targeted mask or serum, then finish with moisturizer and sunscreen. Downtime is minimal. Express facial preparation that actually matters (48 hours to 10 minutes before)

I keep prep simple because this is meant to be a quick, low-stress service.

• Skip heavy retinoids for 48 hours before you come in. Skin that’s already “sped up” can feel extra sensitive when I exfoliate.
• Come with little to no makeup if you can. If you’re coming straight from work, I’ll cleanse it off, but starting bare helps me get right to the good part.
• Avoid aggressive scrubs the night before. Let me do the exfoliation so you don’t show up already irritated.
• Tell me what your skin is doing lately, even if it feels minor. Dry patches, shine by lunchtime, breakouts around the chin, or sensitivity after shaving. That decides how I steer the mask and finishing products.

1) Quick check-in (1 to 2 minutes)

Express facial aftercare for the next 24 to 48 hours (keep the glow, skip the irritation)

Right after your facial, your skin usually looks smoother and feels more hydrated. If we did any extractions, a little pinkness can happen. It typically calms down quickly, but I still like you to treat your skin gently that day.

• Hold off on retinol and strong acids for 24 to 48 hours. Give your barrier time to settle.
• Skip hot showers, steam rooms, and heavy sweating for the rest of the day. Heat tends to stir up redness.
• Hydrate and use SPF every morning. Columbia sun is no joke, especially in late summer when humidity tricks you into thinking you’re safe.
• Don’t exfoliate again that night. Your skin just had its reset.
